Obituary of Joseph Martin Hornyak

Joseph Martin "Smokey" Hornyak, 80, of Reedsville, WV, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021, peacefully at home. He was born in Arthurdale, on July 4, 1941, a son of the late Mike and Madeline (Perkins) Hornyak. Smokey was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a graduate of Valley High Class of 1960. He worked for 39 years at Matthews Bronze International. "Smokey" was a legend in Preston County for his sports abilities. He was an avid sports lover and played basketball, slow pitch softball and golf. Joe loved his family very much and all of his friends. Joseph is survived by his loving wife and caregiver of 58 years, Helen Jo (Bartoletta) Hornyak; daughter, Stacy Gray of Fairmont; granddaughter, Lindsay Gray; grandson, Nathan Gray; great granddaughter, Mia; sister, Joyce Gilmore of Gladesville and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 4pm until the 7pm memorial service with Rev. Dr. David Spence officiating.
