Obituary of Kent Metheny

Kent Garrett Metheny, 20, of New Freeport, PA, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2010. He was born on June 14, 1989, in Morgantown, WV, the beloved son of Frank & Debbie Krynicki Metheny, of New Freeport, PA. Kent graduated from West Greene High School in 2008. Motivated by his love of football, Kent conditioned himself into a strong athlete and played linebacker for the West Greene Pioneer Football team. After graduating from high school, he attended Penn State University Fayette Campus. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Waynesburg, PA. Kent loved the outdoors, especially hunting and training dogs on his family farm. His dad and he bred, raised, and trained beagles for many others to use for rabbit hunting. In addition to rabbit hunting, Kent spent many hours in the woods deer hunting with family and friends. He often traded hunting dogs with his grandpa and loved to hunt raccoons with him. Kent not only enjoyed hunting game, he also was good at cooking it. He particularly liked grilling food and experimenting with spices, hot peppers, and mixtures no one could quite figure out. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his three sisters, Leslie Metheny of Fairmont, WV, Jackie Metheny of Morgantown, WV and Stephanie Metheny of Philadelphia, PA., to whom he was the loving little brother; his grandparents George and Louise Krynicki of Reedsville; grandmother Betty Metheny of Kingwood; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will love him forever and are heartbroken by his death. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Howard Metheny, and infant twin siblings.
