Obituary of Rose Gerard

Rose Marie Gerard Funeral time: November 3, 2008 @ 10:00 AM Notes: Rose Marie Volk Gerard, 82, of Arthurdale, formerly of South Ogden, Utah, found her peace on Friday, October 24th at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 28, 1926 in Burk, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Anton and Mary Glazer Volk. Rose graduated from Masontown High School in 1944. She was a Registered Nurse and was in the Nurse Cadet Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg, WV. She was a Public Health Nurse in Preston County and also a Director of Nurses at Health Care Center in Ogden Utah. Rose was a member of St. Zita’s Altar Society and many other religious and civic organization in West Virginia and South Ogden, Utah. She was an artist and did Velvet Theorums (oil paintings) and painted on furniture. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and crafts. She was known for her pie baking. Rose is survived by her husband of 59 years, John A. Gerard, three sons and spouses, John and Carol Gerard, S. Lake Tahoe, CA, Joseph and Barbara Gerard, Palmer, AK, and James and Sue Gerard, Alpharetta, GA; and a son-in-law, Douglas Stull; three brothers and wives, Frank and Jessie Volk, Morgantown, WV, Edward and Beverly Volk, Reedsville, WV and Joe and Jennie Volk, Reedsville, WV; one sister, Margaret Ursic, Arthurdale, WV, eight grandchildren, twelve nieces and nephews, and six great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Ann Stull. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Zita Catholic Church in Masontown, WV on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 10:00 am. Per her request, Field Funeral Home in Masontown will provide cremation services.
