Obituary of Maxine Garrett

Maxine Robinson Garrett, 93, of Masontown, formerly of Clarksburg and Reynoldsville, WV, passed away Thursday December 31, 2009 at her son’s residence in Masontown. She was born in Liberty Addition, Clarksburg, WV on July 15, 1916 a daughter of the late Brazel and Juanita McCartney Robinson. She was a graduate of Victory High School in Clarksburg and worked for more than 20 years at the Blue Bird Grocery Store on Third Street, Clarksburg. She was a member of the Clarksburg Presbyterian Church and later became a member of the Masontown Nazarene Church where she had a volunteer job for the Nazarene’s “Crusader’s Sunday School Class” and made cards for shut-ins and other occasions. In 2006, she was presented the Distinguished Service Award from the Church of the Nazarene and was a avid Mountaineer Fan. She was a proud mother of three surviving sons, Ray A. “Woody” Garrett of North Lauderdale, FL, Alvin “Babe” Garrett and wife Marie of Parkton, MD, and James “Jim” Garrett and wife Kathy of Masontown; one brother, John W. “Bill” Robinson and wife Catherine “Nena” of Reynoldsville, WV; one sister, Bernice Moots and husband Francis of Reynoldsville, WV; five grandchildren, Lee Ann Sestito Jones of Fairmont, Lisa Garrett of Bel Air, MD, Michele Garrett of Atlanta, GA, Betsy Jo Garrett and husband Brian Weiss of Atlanta, GA, and Timmy Garrett of MD; five great grandchildren, Justin, Teresa, Evan, and Trevor Sestito all of Fairmont, and Alex Lawrence of Bel Air, MD; one sister in law, Bernice Robinson of Wolf Summit, WV; several nieces and nephews; and many friends, all whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray A. Garrett in 1967; two brothers, Basil “Bob” Robinson and Charles “Duck” Robinson and two sisters, Shirley Lee Lakey and Mary Farence; a daughter in law Linda Zara Garrett, and a great grandson, Jason Lawrence. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Sunday January 3, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1 pm Monday January 4, 2010 at the Masontown Nazarene Church with the Rev.
