Obituary of Glenn Hanlin

Glenn Michael Hanlin, affectionately known as "Mikey", 61, of Statesville, NC went into his heavenly home on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Gordon Hospice House. He was born on August 28, 1957 in Masontown, West Virginia to the late Alvin Hanlin Sr. and Mildred Hanlin. Glenn has lived with his sister Nadara Spangler, whom he lovingly called "Cissy" and her husband Chuck for the past 24 years in North Carolina. Mikey was a special and very likeable person who had numerous friends. He attended Lifespan Enrichment Center for 10 years where he participated in the Special Olympics. He even won a trophy for bowling. Mikey also loved oldies music and especially loved listening to Elvis. He was also a member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Glenna Miller and Nelda Hanlin, and two brothers, Alvin Hanlin Jr. and Billy Hanlin. Mikey is survived by four sisters, Alma Leavitt, Dorothy Menear, Nina Haskell, and Nadara Spangler and six brothers, Jimmy Hanlin, Dale Hanlin, Gary Hanlin, Bobby Hanlin, Kenny Hanlin and Darrell Hanlin. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood, WV at 1 pm on Sunday, September 9, 2018 with Pastor Brian Long officiating. Field Funeral Home is entrusted with the local arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky Mount UMC 1739 Perth Rd.
