She was born on April 30, 1914 in Kingwood, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Victor Tilden and Alice Bridget Bosley Stemple. On June 25, 1932 she was united in marriage to Troy Ervin who preceded her in death. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one daughter, Betty Jane Dixon and husband Ray of Fulton, MO; one son, James Daniel Ervin and wife Maxine Wiles of Grafton, Ohio; two brothers, Edward T. and wife Marietta Stemple of Marlinton, WV and Wallace D. and wife Gladys Stemple of Kingwood, WV; thirteen grandchildren, Bonnie Dixon, MO; Donna Schenewerk, CA, Joseph R. Dixon, OK, Judy Avery and Rebecca Bennett, MO, Steven Ervin, Washington DC, Ronnie Ervin, OH, Kathy Rowan, WV, Jacke Jean Hollert, PA, Betty Jane Dillsworth, JT Mayhew, Brian (Pat) Mayhew, WV and Lisa Ritz, FL; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Troy Ervin and her parents, she was preceded in death by her one daughter, Garnet C. Mayhew; one sister, Georgia Stemple Browning and three brothers, Jim, Cecil and Ted Stemple. Evelyn was a homemaker and most of all loved her grandchildren. She loved to cook and bake for them. She lived in and around Kingwood, WV all her life until four years ago when she had to move to Missouri with her daughter. We have now brought her home once more. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Sunday, October 14, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. time of service with the Rev. Robert A. Sisler officiating. Interment will follow at the Bethlehem Cemetery on Dogtown Road in Reedsville, WV.
