Obituary of Colton Michael Friend

Colton Michael Friend, 21, of Reedsville, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born in Morgantown, WV on April 26, 1995, a son of John and Patty Field Friend of Reedsville. He was a 2013 graduate of Preston High School where he was on the swim team, played in the band and received his journeyman electricians license which led to his employment at the I.B.E.W Union Local 596 of Clarksburg. Colton loved playing video games, hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, Jeeping, and hanging out with his friends by the bonfire. He had a very generous and kind spirit as evidenced by his decision to become an organ donor. He also was a member of the Preston Lodge No. 90 A.F. & A.M. In addition to his parents he is survived by one sister, Makenzie Friend of Reedsville, aunts and uncles; Kathy Taft and husband Doug of Masontown, Mark Friend and wife Tracy of Chantilly, VA, Louis Friend and wife Sherri of Thornton, David Friend and wife Kimberly of Fairmont, Rebecca Friend and companion Bob Harding of Morgantown; many cousins and dear friends, especially Brandon and Zach. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Victor C. Friend and Jean DiPalo Friend; maternal grandparents, Pat Field and Barbara Bias Field and one uncle, Victor C. Friend III. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Thursday March 2, 2017 from 1 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the St. Zita Catholic Church in Masontown on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 1 p.m. with Fr. Andrew Switzer as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Masontown Cemetery. Graveside Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Preston Lodge No. 90 A.F. & A.M. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Shriners Children Hospital via their website or the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
