He was born on October 24, 1925 in Moatsville, WV, a son of the late Fredrick Russell and Delia Bartlett Dixon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He began his career as a owner and operator of a sawmill in Pendleton County in the early 1950’s. After moving to Preston County in the 1960’s he was employed as a welder with Kingwood Mining & Francis Engineering and was a lifelong farmer. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the United States Army from 1944 - 1946 in the 370th Medical Battalion in the European Theater. He attended the Ebenezer Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Lois (Maggie) Love Dixon; two daughters, Nancy Dixon of Independence, WV and Donna & Steven Hovatter of Arthurdale; one son, William Todd and Monica Dixon of Independence; one sister and husband, Elma & Robert Breitenstine of Akron, OH; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, Millard, Ray and Russell and five sisters, Flora, Audrey, Ida, Catherine and Betty. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home on Sunday, January 6, 2008 from 7-9 p.m., Monday, January 7, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 from noon until the 1:00 p.m. time of service with the Pastor Ronald Ford officiating. The Preston County VFW Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Interment will follow in the Gordon Cemetery in Gladesville, WV. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care Corporation, P.O.
