DeWitt, age 49, of Tunnelton, WV, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2008 at home. He was born in Kingwood, WV, on December 9, 1958, the son of the late William and Josephine McGinnis DeWitt. He was employed as a welder with Preston Sanitation in Tunnelton, WV and he served in the United States Navy. He is survived by his wife Cheryl Knotts of Tunnelton; one daughter, Laura Staats of Georgia; one son, David D. DeWitt of Las Vegas, NV; one step-daughter, Roxana Lightner of Morgantown; one step-son, Roger D. Lightner of Independence; two brothers, Richard Harvey DeWitt of South Carolina and Stephen Ray DeWitt of Georgia; four sisters, Cindy Leu DeWitt of California, Donna Jean Griffin of South Carolina, Sue Ann Mill of Albright, WV and Sandra Jo Nine of Terra Alta, WV and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Melisa Spindler and one brother, Gary Bill DeWitt. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 from 6-9 p.m. Service will held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Ray Frankhouser officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Colonel Rowan VFW Post #2345. Interment will follow in the Campground Cemetery, Tunnelton, WV.
