She was born on February 28, 1922 in Monongalia County, a daughter of the late Harry Cloid and Mary Ethel Shaffer Cale. Viola was a member of the Sabraton Baptist Church and former member of the Masontown Baptist Church. She was a past member of the Morgantown Chapter of Parents without Partners. Viola had been employed by both the Morgan Shirt Factory and the West Virginia University Hospital. She is survived by her son, Kelley Dawson of Morgantown; her daughter Yvonne Savage of Morgantown; two grandchildren, Nicole Savage of Lansdale, PA and Christopher Savage and spouse, Rebecca of Collegeville, PA.; and two sisters and spouses, Julia and Leonard Everett of Masontown, and Biddie and Henry Phillips of Morgantown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey H. Dawson and four sisters, Rita Cale, Dorothy Pell Huff, Mary Wolfe, and her twin sister, Violet Winston. Friends will be received at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on, Wednesday, June 14, 2006 from 1 pm until the 3pm service time with the Pastor William Winston officiating. Donations in Viola’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1299 Pineview Drive, Suite 3, Morgantown, WV 26505.
