Obituary of John Shaffer

John "Johnny" H. Shaffer, 79, of Masontown, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 28, 1935 in Cascade, a son of the late Roy John and Helen (McCrobie) Shaffer. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He worked at Colshire Manufacturing in Morgantown for 20 years and in the coal mines for 12 years. John enjoyed hunting, camping and all sports but especially football and basketball. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley (Wilson) Shaffer; one daughter Cheryl Brison and husband Harry of Morgantown, two sons, Roy John Shaffer and James Harrison Shaffer of Masontown; two grandsons, Sawyer E. Brison and Trevor Allen Brison of Morgantown; two brothers, Melvin Shaffer and wife Donna of Masontown and Carl Shaffer and wife Betty of Charles Town; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Wilson and wife France and John Garner; one sister-in-law, Ellen Shaffer and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Holly Brison, three brothers, Tommy, Clarence and Dorsey Shaffer and one sister, Leah Jane Garner. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Masontown with Pastor Craig Falkenstine officiating. Inurnment will follow.
