Obituary of Walter White
Walter Wade "Bud" White, 77, of Masontown passed away, Monday, October 27, 2014.
He was born on August 11, 1937 in Greer, WV, the son of the late James Keener and Jeanette Reed White.
Bud was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked at Sterling Faucet for eight years and for Shannopen Coal Mine in Bobtown, PA for 22 years. Bud served in the US Air Force, was in the Korean War and retired from the Army National Guard (Special Forces). He worked as a NASA machinist where he helped build the first satellite. He played the standup bass fiddle, bass guitar and harmonica. He entertained others at the Masontown and Westover Senior Centers with his music and personality. Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed woodworking, building furniture and HAM radios. Bud will be missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia Cottrell White; two daughters, Debra White Mayne and husband John of Masontown and Brenda White Street and husband Roger of Masontown; three sons, James White and wife Rita of Chesapeake City, MD, Gerald White and wife Tracey of Masontown and Robert White and wife Bonnie of Masontown; eleven grandchildren, Wade White and wife Amanda, Robert White and wife Amanda, Kelly Street and companion Jamie, Preston Street and wife Danielle, Nathan Street, Gerald and Scott White, Megan White, Luke and Jacob White and Johnathan Mayne; four great grandchildren, Ella and Ava White and Brody and Rowan White and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Bud was preceded in death by one son, Gary Randell; two great grandsons, Hunter and Parker Street; one sister, Mary White Craigo; in-laws, George and Esther Nicholas Cottrell; five brothers-in-law, Orley, Cecil, Claude, Delmar and Burl Cottrell and two sisters-in-law, Merle Cottrell Martin and Pearl Cottrell Shaffer May.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the funeral home with George Shaffer officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Preston County VFW Post #1589 Honor Guard, WVANG Honor Guard and the Preston County Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 977. Interment will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown.
