Obituary of Charles Strahin
Charles William Strahin, Jr., 84, of Reedsville, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born in Preston County on November 20, 1929, a son of the late Margaret (Shaw) and Charles William Strahin, Sr.
Charles was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He worked for and retired from Consol after 40+ years. Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also attended the Reedsville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Gladys Cress of Fairmont; two sons, Charles Strahin II and wife Ellie of Morgantown and Ralph Strahin of Morgantown; Charles' companion, Frances Friend; four grandchildren, Jennifer Schnore, Pamela Cress, Heather Strahin and Sean Strahin; two great grandchildren, Sophia Schnore and Joseph Schnore; two sisters, Mary DeSantis of Masontown and Anna Strahin of Reedsville; two brothers, Raymond Strahin and wife Beulah of Reedsville and Benjamin Strahin and wife Frances of Arthurdale and one sister-in-law, Sherry Strahin of Masontown.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Alta Strahin; one brother, Richard Strahin, two sisters, Patty and Virginia Strahin and two half brothers, Cecil and William Strahin.
Friends may call at the Reedsville United Methodist Church Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Friday, January 17, 2014 from noon until the 1 p.m. service time with Pastor Brian Long officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Preston County VFW Honor Guard and the Preston County Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 977. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Masontown.
