Obituary of Arthur Haney

Arthur Harrison Haney, 86, of Bretz, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Herring, WV on December 6, 1927, a son of the late Marilla Jane (Deavers) and Lloyd Alfred Haney. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He enjoyed farming and spending time on the family farm. He was coal miner for most of his life and retired from Consol Coal Company. He was Methodist by faith. Arthur served in the US Navy during WWII as a Fireman 1st class on a submarine and received the WWII Victory Medal. Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bessie Haney; four sons, Jeff Haney and wife Alice of Arthurdale, Larry Haney and wife Sheila of Herring, James Haney and wife Debbie of Akron, OH and Dave Haney of Bretz; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Palmisano of Simsbury, CT and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Kenny Lee Haney, five brothers, Clyde Haney, Alfred Haney, Ralph Haney, James Wagner and John Wagner and three sisters, Sue Scott, Carol Hamway and Helen Nemecek. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time with Rev. William Winston officiating. Interment will follow at the Masontown Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice Care Corp.
