Obituary of Nellie Clayton

Nellie Pearl “Bell” Clayton, 98, formerly of Masontown, went to be with her Lord & Savior on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Heartland of Preston County in Kingwood. She was born April 2, 1913 in Elizabeth, WV, the daughter of the late Albert and Myrtle Owens Bell. She married Raymond Clayton on March 21, 1931. He passed away on March 31, 1969. She was a stay at home mom prior to working at WVU in the food department and Rockwell. She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Reedsville. She is survived by three daughters, Betty Jo Tenney and husband Frank, Doris June Stalnaker, and Diana Carol Gibson and husband Harold; one son Michael Clayton and wife Diana; eight grandchildren, Bradley Brode, Lori Jo McDilda and husband David, Vicki Stalnaker, Terri Onorato and husband Fred, Melissa Williams and husband Dee, Amy Gibson, Scott Gibson and wife Brandi, Joshua Clayton and wife Jen; two step-grandsons Gregg Tenney and wife Becky and Brad Tenney and wife Cissy; nine great grandchildren, Matt, Amanda, Melissa Jo, Davey, Alex, Sammi, Kemper, Jennifer and Shaylie; nine step-great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; three sister in laws, Josephine Clayton, Freda Clayton Tatterson and Mary Clayton; and a nephew Robert Bell. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons in law, George R. Brode and Frank Stalnaker; a grandson Richard R. Brode; and one son Richard Clayton, who died in infancy. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home, Masontown, WV on Tuesday, May 17 from 5 - 8 pm, and on Wednesday, May 18 from 10 - 11 am at the Calvary Baptist Church in Reedsville, where services will be held at 11 am with the Pastor Terry Hagedorn officiating.
