Obituary of Helen Catlett

Helen Margaret Catlett, 98, of Athurdale,WV, formerly of Star City, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born on December 31, 1911, in Reedsville, WV a daughter of the late Elihu and Mary Agnes Farrell Born. She was the great-great-great granddaughter of Thomas Brown, Revolutionary War Veteran of Preston County. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and enjoyed her family of nieces and nephews. She was known to them as "Aunt Dine". Her heart was always open to those in need and was a caretaker to many people. She also loved to watch WVU basketball. She is survived by two daughters and spouse, Mary and Ronald Golden of Oseola, IN, and Debra Bruner of Morgantown; grandchildren and spouses, Sharon and Randolph Peterson, Melanie Worthman, Athena and John Johnson, all of Mishawaka, IN, Dawn and Doug Conrad of Arthurdale (with whom she made her home the last six years), grandson Mark Catlett Bruner of Arthurdale, and Bradley Bruner of Arthurdale and six great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by by her husband, Samuel Robert Catlett; one daughter, Winifred Catlett; one great grandchild, Tyler Robert Johnson. She was the last living decenent in her immediate family having been preceded in death by one brother, Rex Born; and three sisters, Grace Brown, Garnet Sisler, and Bethel Trickett. The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses at Monongalia General Hospital who cared for her the last several weeks. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Wilbur Sine for not just being a doctor but a wonderful kind friend. She treasured his friendship. until the 11 a.m. time of service with her great nephew Scott Cress officiating. Interment will follow at the Masontown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Suncrest United Methodist Church Radio Ministry, 479 VanVooris Rd, Morgantown, WV.
