Beatrice Cress Obituary

Beatrice Lillian Cress, 92, of Masontown, was called home peacefully by Jesus who said He was going to prepare a place for His children that He loved on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown.


She was born January 20, 1921 in Sarver, WV a daughter of the late Mary Eliza Hall Rohr and Alvin Eugene Rohr.


She attended the Morgantown Junior High School and her freshman and sophomore years at Morgantown Senior High school. She later finished her high school education through Correspondence of America School of Chicago, IL. She retired from the Morgan Shirt Factory in Morgantown in 1983 after 15 years of service. She worked for several years collecting information and pictures of relatives for her genealogy books. She kept a journal each year for most of her adult life recording events of her family lives and took many pictures at these events. She loved to camp, fish and work with her flowers. She was an avid animal lover and took great pride in taking care of her four cats.


She is survived by four sons; Jim Cress, Larry Cress and wife Debby, Marvin Cress, and Rick Cress and wife Libby, all of Masontown; grandchildren and spouses; Tammy and Mike Lemmon of Winchester, VA, Scott and Jen Cress of Arthurdale, Missy and Danny Boring of Masontown, Melanie and Mike Pompili of Arthurdale, Carl Rouse and companion Debra Howland of Masontown, Gwen Rouse of Somerset, PA, Anthony Cress of Masontown, Jenny and Jeff Schnore of Fairmont, Pam Cress of Fairmont, Donna Sue and Jim Noyes of Baltimore, MD; 18 great grandchildren, Hailea and Elijah Cress, Gregory Boring, Courtney Boring, Hanna Boring, Kaitlyn Pompili, Nate Pompili, Audrey Rouse, Amber Rouse, Rebekah Rouse, Naomi Rouse, Aden Noyes, Kira Noyes, Natalie Noyes, Alaina Noyes, Aiden Lemmon, Sophia Schnore and Joey Schnore; two sisters in law, Pauline Rohr and Marlene Rohr; and several nieces and nephews.


She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by her husband Delbert Edwin Cress, four brothers; Charles A. Rohr, Kenneth W. Rohr, Harry E. Rohr and Donald G. Rohr.


Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Saturday May 25, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Sunday May 26, 2013 from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service time with Rev. William Winston and Scott Cress officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
