Obituary of Rosa Uphold

Rosa L. Uphold, 84, of Reedsville, went to be with The Lord on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Ruby Memorial Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born on December 3, 1927 in Morgantown, WV (Pounds Hollow). She was preceded in death by her parents William and Phoebe Feathers Pounds. Rosa is survived by her loving and devoted husband Haymond Cyrus Uphold of 56 years. She took great pride and care in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Rosa was an active member of the Kingwood Apostolic Church. She loved The Lord and her church family. She is survived by two sons, Danny Ray Adams and wife Dixie of Arthurdale and Cyrus Uphold II and wife Loretta of Reedsville; son in law, Delmar Hagedorn Jr. of Masontown; four daughters, Phyllis Feather and husband David of Kingwood, Donna Gay Cale and husband Rev. Larry of Logan, Billie Jo Shrout and husband Preston of Reedsville and Helen Stuchell and husband Delbert of Reedsville; 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Rosa was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosa Louise (Babe) Hagedorn; a granddaughter, Lisa Splear; two brothers, Barkley and Ernest Pounds and four sisters, Margaret Richards, Betty Gibson, Mary Dalton and Ruth Austin. Friends and family may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 2:00 - 8:00 PM and Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Kingwood Apostolic Church from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM service time with Pastor Mann officiating. Interment will follow at the Bethlehem Cemetery on Dogtown Road. The family would like to thank all the staff of Ruby Memorial Hospital, her church family, friends and family for all their prayers and The Lord for watching over Mom and giving her the strength to carry on for all the years we had her. Rosa was a special woman who had courage and conviction for her believes and she shared it with everyone she met. Looking at her you could tell she was a beautiful person, loving inside and out and could see the love she shared with Haymond, her special guy of 56 years. The care and love she gave all her children will never be matched by another.
