He was born October 19, 1944 in Masontown, WV, a son of the late Alton “Edward” and Edna Pearl Shaffer Cale. He was an avid hunter, family man, adopted dad and grandfather of many. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1969; a member of the V.F.W. Post #1589 for 39 years; Military Order of Purple Heart, 25th Infantry Division, Disabled Veterans of American, Vietnam Veterans of America and ¾ Cavalry Division. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon “Boyce” Cale; two daughters, Marlana Frances Cale and Theresa and husband Rocky Andre all of Masontown; one brother and spouse, Allen and Marilyn Cale of Morgantown; two grandchildren, Shayla Brooke Cale and Deserai Louk; three boys he called sons, David Shaffer, Jerry Johnson and Edward Cale and his best friend Kevin Lyons. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Fay Cale in 1984 and a grandson, Mason Andre. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Wednesday November 21, 2007 from 2 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, November 22, 2007 from 5 to 9 p.m. Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday November 23, 2007 at the funeral home, with George W. Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Pruntytown. Donations can be made to the 4-H Club Mt.
