Obituary of Alvia Layman
Alvia E. (Al) Layman, Jr., 74, of Reedsville passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at his residence.
He was born in Smithton, PA, April 2, 1938, a son of the late Lillian M. (Kalish) and Alvia E. Layman Sr.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a truck driver for CH&D Enterprises in New Stanton, PA and was a farmer. Alvia was a graduate of South Huntington High School and was Methodist by faith. He was member of the Monessen Masonic Lodge #0638 F & A.M. of Monessen, PA holding the 32nd degree and a member of the Accepted Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Coudersport, PA.
Alvia is survived by his wife, Janet Faye (Troup) Layman; a daughter, Susan Maund and husband Jeffrey of Bruceton Mills, WV; a sister, Linda Armstrong and husband Frank of New Stanton, PA; two grandsons, Staff Sgt. Jesse Maund and Specialist Chadd Maund; three uncles, Joseph Layman, John Kalish and Edward Kalish; two aunts, Freda Rorke and Donna Layman and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert C. Layman.
To honor the request of the family services will be private. Interment to follow at West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, PA.
