Obituary of Thelma Long

Thelma Pearl Long, 87, of Masontown, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 at her residence. Thelma was born in Morgantown, on October 25, 1924, a daughter of the late Phillip Roy and Lida Mae Davis. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Masontown Church of the Nazarene, the VFW Ladies Aux Post #1589 and had worked at WVU Stewart Hall. She is survived by five daughters, Catherine Diane Boorse and husband Samuel "Woody" of Cleveland, NC, Donna Sue Hovatter and husband Mike of Masontown, Carla Jo Ellifritz and husband Willard of Masontown, Carolyn Marie Trickett and husband Randy of Reedsville and Bonnie Kay Bolyard and husband Brad of Kingwood; four sons Terry Long and wife Sharon of Masontown, Rodger Long and wife Barbara of Reedsville, Douglas M. Long and wife Charlotte of Cheat Lake, John A. Long and wife Kari of Morgantown and one half sister Rosie Dalton of Morgantown.   She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Michelle Gillespie and husband Aaron, Sam Boorse and wife Kelly, Melissa Humphreys and husband Brett, Kimberly Boorse, Carrie Long and companion Jason Cress, Seth Long and wife Cheri, Christy Holipsky and companion John, Randall Trickett and wife Hannah, Samatha Puccio and husband Chris, Cindy Bolyard, Brandon Bolyard and companion Samantha, Karli Long, Ryan Ellifritz and companion Jessica Polce, and Kamryn Long; 14 great grandchildren and three step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her huband Carl "Shorty" Long; two sisters, Iris June Mckinney and Dorothy Conner; and four brothers, Melvin Davis, Palmer Davis, Ray Davis, and Carl Davis. Friends may call the Field Funeral Home in Masontown Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.. The VFW Ladies Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m.. Services will be held at the Field Funeral Home Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Hagedorn officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood.
