Obituary of Richard Wolfe
Richard A. Wolfe, 86, of Morgantown, formerly of Masontown, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown.
He was born in Masontown on June 23, 1925, a son of the late Frank and Iva Mary Harned Wolfe.
He owned and operated Wolfe Brothers Dairy Farm, and had worked for the Sunny Hill Coal Company. He was a Methodist by faith and served in the U.S. Army in the 729th Police Battalion during WW II. He was active with the West Virginia University and the State Extension Service with dairy farm projects with his brother Willard.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years; Dorothy Helen Day Wolfe; one sister, Pearl Guseman of Morgantown; and a brother, Wade Wolfe and his wife Beulah of Masontown; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and spouses; Everett and Mabel Wolfe, Kermit and Edith Wolfe, Woodrow and Evelyn Wolfe, Willard Wolfe and Gilbert Wolfe; and four sisters and spouses; Edith and Steve Karculas, Dorothy and Wayne Cuppett, Ruth and Burl Bredon, Jessie Street; and an infant sister.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Tuesday November 8, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday November 9, 2011 at the funeral home, with Rev. Sam Starling officiating.
Interment will follow at the Arthurdale Cemetery in Arthurdale. Military rites will be conducted by the Preston County VFW Honor Guard, WVANG Honor Guard and the Preston County Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 977. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Masontown United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 536, Masontown, WV 26542.
