Obituary of Howard Weter
Howard Thurston Weter, 82, of Masontown, WV, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009, at his residence.
He was born in Richmondale, OH on January 9, 1927, the son of the late George Thurston and Margurite Hilda (Dickson) Weter.
He was owner operator of the Weter Coal Company for many years but his first love was flying airplanes. He attended the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Reedsville. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, having served in WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Grace B. Phillips Weter; three daughters, Linda Sue Ernest of Port Lavaca, TX, Pam Morgan of Ripley, WV, Sandra Calvert, of Masontown, WV; one son, Roger Weter of Richmondale, OH; one sister, Patrica Kerns of AL; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a special niece & nephew, Loretta Watson and Chuck Phillips Jr.; and his best friend, Joe Elliot.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Gregory Sypolt and Clifford Sypolt.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home on Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 3 - 8pm. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 7, 2009 at 11:00am with the Pastor Terry Hagadorn officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood, WV.
Military rites will be conducted by the Preston County VFW Honor Guard, Preston County Chapter 977 Vietnam Veterans of America, and the West Virginia Army National Guard Camp Dawson.
