Betty Jean Martin Westenfelder, 86, of Masontown WV, passed on to her eternal home on Saturday, November 22, 2008 peacefully at the home of her daughter, Becky Montgomery.
Betty was born in Tunnelton, WV, on July 21, 1922, a daughter of the late Percy D. and Sylvia May Bell Martin. She graduated from Arthurdale High School, Class of 1941.
She worked as a waitress at the Arthurdale Inn in the late 30s. Additionally, she was an employee of the Arthurdale Shirt Factory, Sterling Faucet and Morgantown Early Learning Facility before retiring. She was affectionately known as Granny or Miss Betty by her family and friends. She attended Faith Christian Fellowship Church in Morgantown, WV.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Montgomery of Masontown, WV; one sister, Doris McNaughton of Masontown, WV; grandchildren, Paula Tomczewski, Rayne and Michael Hutson, John and Shelly Montgomery, all of Morgantown, WV, Joe Montgomery, and Bill and Amy Montgomery, of Masontown, WV. Great grandchildren Justin and Emily Hutson, Fairmont, WV, Nikki Montgomery and Zach Montgomery, Huntington, WV, Sarah Hutson, Ashland, OH, Sarah Warchola, Columbus, OH, Tara Montgomery and companion, Chris Woods, Jimmy Rodeheaver, Travis Rodeheaver, Kaitlin Montgomery, Grant Montgomery, and Hailey Montgomery, Morgantown, WV, Alyssa Montgomery, Joshua Montgomery, And Mattyson Montgomery, Masontown, WV; five great-great-grandchildren, Joseph Hutson, Grace Bailey, Isaac Woods, Jacob Barker, and Brady Hutson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy D. and Sylvia May Bell Martin, original Arthurdale homesteaders; her husbands: William Westenfelder, William Myers, and former Husband, Richard Core; her son-in-law, Joe Montgomery; and siblings, Bonna Kelley, Clyde Martin, Virginia Perkins, Phila Bell Sherlock, Jack Martin and Dale Martin.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 from 5 - 8 pm. Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, November 26 at the funeral home with the Pastor David Chedester officiating.
Interment will follow at the Arthurdale Cemetery in Arthurdale, WV.
