Obituary of Edward Volk

Edward “Eddy” Volk, 72, of Reedsville, entered into eternal rest on Saturday August 20, 2011 after a prolonged illness. He was born July 4, 1939 in Reedsville, WV a son of Anton and Mary Volk. Edward graduated from Valley High School in 1958 and was employed by Westinghouse Electric Company. He drove cross country for a moving company and drove school bus. He owned and operated Browns Mill Grocery for 9 years, and Edward Volk Trucking. He served in the US Army in Germany for two years. Edward was a member of St. Zita Catholic Church in Masontown where he was an Alter Boy. He enjoyed working on trucks and cars, and farming. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly Sue Volk; two sons, Christopher Volk and wife Amy of Reedsville; Steve Volk of Reedsville; one granddaughter Victoria Rose Volk; one brother and spouse, Joe and Jennie Volk of Reedsville; and one sister Margaret E. Ursic of Arthurdale. Edward was preceded in death by one brother Frank W. Volk, and one sister, Rose Marie Gerard. Per his request cremation services will be conducted by Field Funeral Home in Masontown. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
