Notes: Rex Albert Taylor, Sr., age 77, of Masontown, WV, passed away Friday, May 2, 2008 at Windy Hill Manor in Kingwood, WV.
He was born on July 1, 1930 in Masontown, WV, a son of the late Ralph and Vera McClure Taylor.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He retired from Lone Star Cement Company in 1995. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Masontown where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee and sang in the choir. He was instrumental in building and raising money for the new addition of the church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marjorie Sue Susie Taylor; three daughters, Gwendolyn Duckworth and husband Kevin of Kingwood, WV, Linda Stresky and husband Dave Bonnette of Terra Alta, WV, Phyllis L. Davis and husband James of Masontown, WV; two sons, Rex Taylor, Jr. and wife Susie of Lincolnton, NC and Rusty Taylor and wife Elaine of Morgantown, WV; twelve grandchildren, Jeff Davis, Debbie Thomas, Julie Mallow, Rex A Taylor, III, Josh Taylor, Emily OConnor, Alicia Stresky, Sara Starcher, Lauren Duckworth, Aubrey Duckworth, Tyler Duckworth and Isa Marie Taylor; two great-grand children, Addison Starcher and Tobey Crawford; five step-grandchildren, Denver Goldsmith, Zach Goldsmith, Abe Goldsmith, Scott Bonnette and Chase Bonnette; one sister Madlyn Menear of Arthurdale and three brothers, John Taylor of Kingwood, WV, Fred Taylor of Newburg and Hubert Wilhelm of North Dakota.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Taylor and one sister, Christine Martino.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home, Masontown, WV on Saturday, May 3, 2008 from 2-8 p.m. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Masontown on Sunday, May 4, 2008 with the Rev. Gary Coffey officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Herring.
