Obituary of Virginia Summers

Virginia Maxine Summers, 95, of Gladesville, passed away Thursday September 30, 2010 at her home. She was born in Fairmont on June 3, 1915 a daughter of the late Obe and Lula Kisner Stone. She was employed by the Preston County Board of Education as cook for many years at the Gladesville and Arthurdale schools. She was a member of the Gladesville Church of Christ and was a 1933 graduate of Kingwood High School. She was well known for her baking skills. She is survived by four sons and spouses; Dixon and Erma Summers of Arthurdale, Arnold and Vonda Summers of Brooksville, FL, William and Carol Summers of Morgantown, and Stanton and Terri Summers of Vienna, WV; a daughter in law, Agnes Summers of Arthurdale; one sister, Evelyn Wolfe of Williamston, SC; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brice Layton Summers in 1965; one son, Arthur Summers in 2008; and two sisters, Lucille Weiss, and Audrey Kisner. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Saturday October 2, 2010 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday October 3, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. October 4, 2010 at the funeral home with Gene Kessel officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordon Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to Tender Loving Care, 246 Cheat Rd Suite 3, Morgantown, WV 26508.
