Obituary of Charles Sigley

Charles W. “Bud” “Shorty” Sigley, Sr, 77, of Reedsville, died Friday, December 25, 2009 at Preston Memorial Hospital with his family by his side, following an extended battle with cancer. He was born on Sept 30, 1932 in Tunnelton, the son of the late Lloyd & Maggie Riley Sigley. He was a coal miner for 50 years at various mines including Bull Run Mining. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and working in his garden. He is survived by his wife Gladys Hamrick Sigley; two sons, Charles Sigley Jr and spouse Lisa of Reedsville, Brian Sigley and spouse Linda of Arthurdale; three daughters Debbie Hess and spouse Bill of Pursglove, Barbara Jenkins and spouse Clyde of Masontown, and Sharon Sigley of Reedsville; one sister Cora (Sis) Sigley of Reedsville; five grandchildren Heather, Danielle, Billy Hess, Brandon Sigley, Dallas Jenkins, and a very special friend Haymond Uphold Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Sigley Jr, Richard Sigley, and Robert Sigley Sr, and one sister, Bessie Sigley. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Monday, December 28 from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. Services will be held at the funeral home 1pm on Tuesday, December 29 with the Rev. Ray Frankhouser officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in the Salt Lick Community. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.fieldfuneralhome.com
