He was born December 1, 1926, in Carmichaels, PA, the son of the late John A. and Pauline I. Gower Shubert. He was employed at Sterling Faucet for many years and retired from Riverside Electric where he worked as a machinist. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during WWII. He is survived by one son and spouse, Edward and Ellen Shubert and one granddaughter, Riley M. Shubert, all of Masontown, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Madeline Shubert; one brother, Dan Shubert and one sister, Betty McDermott. Honoring his wishes, cremation services were provided by the Field Funeral Home in Masontown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2008 at St. Zita Catholic Church in Masontown with the Very Rev. Fr. Mark E. Ward, CP, VF as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to Hospice Care, P.O. Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520.
