Obituary of Betty Shaffer

Betty Lula Shaffer, 77, of Masontown, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 24, 1933 in Kingwood, the daughter of the late Walter B. and Lula E. Jackson May. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Sturgiss United Methodist in Masontown. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, and attending church sings. She had worked at Sterling Faucet, Morgan Shirt and most recently WVU Hospitals. She was a lifetime member of the Masontown VFW Post #1589 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Leon Shaffer; one daughter, Margie Cale and spouse Gary of Masontown; three sons, Darrell Shaffer and spouse Karen, Dennis Shaffer and spouse Sandra, Timothy Shaffer and spouse Mary all of Masontown; six sisters, Fanny Cleps of Genova, OH, Phyllis Shaffer and spouse Burton of Masontown, Janet Shaffer and spouse Wayne of Masontown, Judy Johnson of Masontown, Susan Greaser and spouse Greg of Kingwood, Joyce Cottrell and spouse Marvin of Masontown; three brothers Clifford May and spouse Edna of Morgantown, Walter May and spouse Mary of Arthurdale, and Roger May of Masontown; two sisters in law Carolyn May and Anna May; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers David May and Robert May, a brother in law William Cleps, and two grandsons Eric Leon Shaffer and Nathan Gene Shaffer. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home, Masontown, WV on Friday, April 29 from 10 am - 2 pm. Services will be held at 2pm at the funeral home with the Rev. James Weber and Rev. William Winston officiating. Interment will be at the Mayfield Cemetery in Masontown. The Ladies Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 2pm.
