Obituary of Giovanni Polce

Giovanni “Johnny” Polce, 80, of Masontown, WV passed away on Friday, November 12, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born in Bretz, WV on July 22, 1930, the son of the late Sante & Maria Cimarella Polce. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was employed by Romisch Manufacturing and worked at F & P Coal Mine, which was the family mine. He owned & operated John Polce Welding Service and retired in 1993 from the Preston County Schools where he was a welding & mining instructor. He was a member of St. Zita Catholic Church in Masontown, WV and he served in the US Army during the Korean War as an MP. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Wright Polce; two daughters Terri Polce-Twigg and spouse Robb of Kingwood, and Maria and spouse Mike Soccorsi of Masontown; a son, Mark and spouse Geraldine Polce of Reedsville; four grandchildren, Jessica Polce, Sage Soccorsi, Brooklyn Twigg, and Presslie Twigg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Polce, Mamie Sisler, and infant Giovannina Polce; eight brothers, Sandy Lawrence Sr, Fheo Polce, Americo Polce, Vespucci Polce, Pietro Polce, Salvadore Polce, Marshall Lawrence, and Guido Lawrence. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Monday November 15, 2010 from 3 - 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Zita Catholic Church in Masontown, WV on Tuesday, November 16 at 10am with the Fr. Arthur Bufogle as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Masontown Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Preston County VFW Honor Guard, WVANG Honor Guard, and the Preston County Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 977.
