Obituary of Donald McMillen

Donald Eugene “Bill” McMillen, 80, of Masontown, WV, died December 19, 2011. He was born April 21, 1931, in Preston County, a son of the late Virgil E. and Almeda Kittle McMillen of Morgantown, WV. He was a retired sheet metal worker, working in construction in California, Arizona, and the Norfolk and Tidewater area in Virginia. He played country music under the stage name “Billy Mack“. He was a Broadcast Music Inc. writer and his songs were recorded by several country music artists. He also was a member of the West Virginia Poetry Society and the Morgantown Poetry Society. He was a Korean War Veteran with two major Battle Stars, also a past Commander of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Meleady, one brother Forrest Dale McMillen and one sister Dorothy Louise Shaw. He is survived by two sisters; Darlene Settle and Dolores Dinwiddie of Portsmouth, Virginia, two daughters; Donna D’Amico and husband Jim of Morgantown and Deanna Wagner and husband Rick of Reedsville, two grandchildren; Donna Varner and Mickey McCardle, and step granddaughter Amber Wagner, and five great grandchildren. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Zimmerman and the 10th floor East Nursing Staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be no funeral service.
