Obituary of James Lamar

James Richard “Jimmy” Lamar, Jr., 45, of Masontown, WV, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born April 2, 1964 in Rowlesburg, WV, the son of James Richard and Virginia “Cookie” Goff Lamar of Masontown. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, and brother. He was loved by anyone who knew him, and was a true friend to many. He enjoyed going to mud boggs, demolition derbys, camping, and NASCAR. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Jennifer Emerson of Morgantown; one daughter Tiffany Lamar; two sons, Christopher Lamar and wife Rebecca, and Jeremy Lamar, all of Morgantown; three brothers, John Lamar Sr. and wife Peggy of Masontown, Charles “Rick” Lamar and wife Dorsey of Masontown, and Roger Lamar and wife Tamara of Morgantown; two sisters, Connie Lamar of Masontown, and Chasidy Bolyard and husband Bradley of Reedsville; three step-sons, Johnny Emerson, Steven Emerson, and Daniel Emerson; three grandchildren, Christopher, Skyler, and Elizabeth Lamar and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Harry and Atha Goff, paternal grandparents, Hubert and Hazel Lamar, and one uncle, Arthur Lamar. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Tuesday July 28, 2009 from 3-5 and 7 -9 p.m. and on Wednesday July 29, 2009 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday July 30, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Sonny McNear officiating. Interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Wilbur Sine for his care during Jimmy’s illness.
