Obituary of Virginia Knotts

Virginia “Tharrell” Amelia Sigley Knotts, 81, of Masontown, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born on November 29, 1929 in Buffalo, Preston County, the daughter of the late Earnest Guy & Bertha Lavy Elison Sigley. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1589 and also volunteered with the Valley District Ambulance. She loved crocheting and making things to give away. She is survived by three sons, Thomas C. “Poncho” Sigley of Irish Ridge, Eldon “Buck” Knotts and wife Charlotte of Bull Run, and Paul F. Knotts of Masontown; three daughters, Marlene Nutter and husband Sammy of Dellslow, Charlene Crowder of Dellslow, and Virginia L. “Flip” Moore of Kingwood; 18 grandchildren, Tina, Billy, Kim, Kellie, Sherri, Mike, Becky, Sam Jr., Bryan, Amanda “Mandi”, Melissa, Stephanie, Michael, Travis, Dennie, Chad, Jimmy and Sheila; 43 great grandchildren; three sisters, Opal Russell of Gauley Mills, WV, Lola Braham of Sarasota, FL. and Lula Bolyard of Tunnelton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James Eldon Knotts: an infant son, James Eldon Knotts Jr, one sister, Cleo Saukel, three brothers, Rodney Sigley, Grover Sigley, and Delton Sigley; one granddaughter Teresa and a great grandson, Curtis Moore; one daughter in law, Bert Sigley; and two son in laws, Dale Crowder and James Moore. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Tuesday, March 29 from 3-5 and 7-9, and Wednesday March 30 from 3 - 5 and 7-9. Funeral Services will be held 1pm Thursday March 31 at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Funk officiating. Interment will follow in the Shay’s Chapel Cemetery in Tunnelton.
