Obituary of Virginia Kirby

Virginia Reel Kirby, 91, of Masontown, WV, passed away on Wednesday April 8, 2009, at Monongalia General Hospital following a brief illness. She was born March 4, 1918 at Ruthbbell near Albright, WV, the daughter of the late Arthur and Frances Hedrick Reel. She often spoke of the Teets Families of the Terra Alta-Eglon areas. Virginia was a member of the Masontown Baptist Church, the Masontown Homemakers and the Preston County/Valley District Senior Citizens. She retired from the Washington Hotel in Alexandria, VA before moving back to Masontown in the 1970’s so she could be closer to her family. Her hobbies were needle work and plastic canvas. She will be sadly missed by her nephews and niece. Charles and Freda Reel of Morgantown and Roger ( John ) Reel of Tunnelton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Kirby, her stepmother Sarah Reel; brothers David and Zola Reel, and brothers & sister-in-laws, George and Evelyn Reel and William ( Bill ) and Stella Reel. Virginia was the longest living and last surviving member of her immediate family. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Friday, April 10, 2009 from 2pm - 9pm and Saturday April 11, 2009 from 1:00pm until the 2:00 pm service with the Rev. William Winston officiating. Interment will be at the Ivy Hill Cemetery, Alexandria, VA. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.fieldfuneralhome.com
