Obituary of Beverly Jo Mayle

Beverly Jo Mayle died on December 9, 2024, at the Morgantown Healthcare Center in Morgantown, WV. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and art teacher. She was proud of her son, Harrison, and was devoted to her husband, Phil. Before she was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease, Beverly was a vibrant woman, a talented artist, and taught art for years in Preston County. Born in Charleston, WV, in 1964, the daughter of Betty Connor McClung and the late L. Bruce McClung. She graduated from Duval High School and obtained a teaching degree and a Master of Fine Arts from WVU. Beverly had a long career teaching fine arts and computers to thousands of students across Preston County, but the majority of her career was spent at West Preston Middle School. She would also teach Fine Arts at Trinity Christian School in Morgantown, WV, and ended her teaching career at Preston High School. Beverly was a devout Christian who particularly sought ways to help the youth of Preston County, and initiated several after-school and evening programs, as well as youth programs at her church. She was an exceptional and diversified woman who also enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, taking care of animals, and being creative. She was a kind and compassionate person who always had a smile with a positive outlook on life. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Philip Mayle; son, Harrison Hawkins (Victoria Hawkins); mother, Betty McClung; stepmother, Sue McClung; stepson, Davey Mayle; stepdaughters, Hollie Poling and Erica Mayle; grandson, Carter; her sisters and brother, Beth Suter, Becky Griffith, and Ben McClung, along with many nieces and nephews, and friends that cherished her. Following cremation, friends will be received at Field Funeral Home in Masontown, WV on Friday, December 13, 2024, with visitation with family from 11 AM to 1 PM with a memorial service at 1 PM, officiated by Reverend Malisa Smith. A celebration of her life will also be held at the Baha'i Center in Charleston, WV at a later date. The Family would like to express gratitude to the staff at Morgantown Healthcare Center Memory Unit for providing outstanding care for Beverly. Also, special appreciation to WV Caring Hospice for the amazing and compassionate care provided to Beverly in the last months of her life.
