Carol Redena (Smith) Garlitz, 83, of South Chesterfield, VA, formerly of Arthurdale, WV, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 18, 2024.

She was born in Lost Creek, WV on October 4, 1941, a daughter of the late Oscar Smith and Rose Richardson.

Carol was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. During her retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband Richard. Carol loved her family and spending time with them was her favorite pastime. They loved her just as much and she will be missed beyond measure.

Carol is survived by her sons; John Garlitz and Lora, Robert “Bob” Garlitz and James Garlitz; six grandchildren, Brianne Hawkins and Polo, Amber Garlitz and Chris, John Garlitz, Aspen Garlitz, Katelynn Garlitz and Connor Garlitz; great grandchildren, Mylah, Gray, Daniel, and Essie; two brothers, Sonny Smith and Todd Richardson; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

In addition to her beloved husband Richard Lee Garlitz, she was preceded in death by one brother, Mike Smith.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, WV on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 10 am until noon. A graveside service will follow at the Arthurdale Cemetery with Pastor Marvin Shaffer officiating.
