Obituary of Anna Melvernia Johnson-May

Anna Melvernia (Shaffer) Johnson - May, 84, of Masontown, WV, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown with family by her side.

 

She was born in Masontown, WV on May 2, 1940, a daughter of the late John William "Billie" Shaffer and Iva May (Sprouse) Shaffer.

 

Anna was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She retired from WVU Hospital as an LPN. She loved flowers, cookouts and going shopping. She loved unconditionally, never turning anyone away. Her greatest joy was always her family, especially her grandchildren.

 

She is survived by her children, Mike Johnson and wife Jennifer and Jerry "Oogie" Johnson and wife Dana, all of Masontown, one daughter, Kathy Klein and husband Ben of Solon, OH; one daughter-in-law, Patty Johnson; 11 grandchildren, Ricky Johnson, Nicole Johnson, Michael Johnson, II., Casey Johnson, Shelby Johnson, Whitney Johnson Graham, Christopher Shaffer, Jodi Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Steven Jared and Robert Jared; 11 great grandchildren, Abi Thomas, Aiden Johnson, Wyatt Johnson, Kiley Cole, Devyn Johnson, Julian Shaffer, Michael Ray Johnson III, Gavin Jared, Holden Jared, Ashton Jared and Everleigh Jared; and nine siblings, John Shaffer, Burton Shaffer, Virginia Shaffer Williams, Sonna Hussing, Nancy Wolfe, Harvey Shaffer, Susan Alley, Jack Shaffer and Dave Shaffer.

 

Anna was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Maurice "Reace" Johnson and Robert "Bob" May; two sons, Robert Johnson and Rick Johnson; one sister, Frances Shaffer Johnson and two brothers, Charles Shaffer and James Shaffer.

 

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 4 – 8 pm and on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from noon until the 1 pm time of service with Reverend Marvin Shaffer officiating. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.
