Cathern Pearl Borne, 90, of Arthurdale, WV, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024, at New Horizons Personal Care Home in Kingwood.

She was born in Birds Creek, WV, on May 29, 1933, a daughter of the late Walter Franklin Sr. and Goldie Mable (Burke) Knotts.

Cathern was a loving mother, grandmother. She was a graduate of Newburg High School class of 1950. Then she married the love of her life, Chester "Tom" Borne June 20, 1953. She worked as a cook for the Preston County Schools for 25 + years. Cathern enjoyed quilting, crafts, and sewing. She also enjoyed flower gardening.

She is survived by three daughters, S. Yvonne Tayman and husband Joe and V. Jewell Moyer and husband Larry all of Kingwood and L. Renea Sebastian and husband Joe of Belle Vernon, PA; seven grandchildren, Jeremiah Tayman, Scott Moyer, Jeff Moyer, Travis Tayman, T.J. Sebastian, Tanner Sebastian, and Jennifer Jones and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chester "Tom", one brother, Walter Franklin Knotts Jr. and one sister, Idella Marie Kelley.

Private services will be held. The Field Funeral Home in Masontown is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at the Arthurdale Cemetery.
