Obituary of Luigi DeBoni

After a 7-year battle with colon cancer, Luigi DeBoni II, 79, passed away peacefully with his family by his side in Riverview, FL on January 18, 2024.


He was born in Masontown, WV, to the late Luigi and Marcellina DeBoni, on October 8, 1944.


Luigi received his degree in pharmacy from WVU. Always entrepreneurial, he worked a variety of jobs over the years in addition to being a pharmacist. Luigi was the life of the party and was always ready with a drink in hand to welcome people to a good meal, a dance, or a game of cards. He enjoyed fishing, biking, hunting, and never missed the annual Polecat Rampage. He was a member of Wellspring Church in Ruskin, FL, a founding member of Trinity Christian School in Morgantown, WV, and an active member of the Gideons and Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International. Luigi was grateful to make several mission trips over the years.


He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; five children, Eric DeBoni, Craig DeBoni, Aaron DeBoni, Matty Staudt, and Dena Jabbour; four stepchildren, Lisa Othmani, Stacey Marabella, Kristina Sturek, and Franklin Gregg; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, and his sisters, Lydia Main and Tecla DeBoni.


In addition to his parents, Luigi is preceded in death by his son, Luigi (WeeLou) DeBoni III.


Friends and family may call at Field Funeral Home in Masontown, WV, from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 27, 2024, with Pastor John Sommers officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Masontown Cemetery. A time of celebration to honor Luigi's life will be held after the interment at the Masontown VFW Post 1589; 8477 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Masontown, WV 26542.
