Obituary of Gary Lee Varner

Gary Lee Varner, 63, of Kingwood, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at Windy Hill Manor Personal Care Home. Gary was born in Washington, PA on November 28, 1952, a son of the late Fred Elwood and Wanetta Agnes (Crider) Varner. He was employed as an Ironworker for many years and was a member of Iron Workers Local No. 549 of Wheeling WV for 10 years before going to work at the WVU Physical Plant in Morgantown. Gary was a great sportsman. He loved to bow hunt for deer and fly fish for trout. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Gary is survived by two brothers, Fred V. Varner and wife Mary Ann of Kingwood and Robert E. Varner of Masontown; one step sister, Linda Haught of Morgantown; two step brothers, William Bash of Akron, OH and Myron Bash of Masontown; two nephews, Aaron V. Varner and Matthew S. Varner and wife Danielle; four great nieces, Morgan Varner, Hadley Varner, Lexie Varner and Deserai Varner and two great nephews, Mason Varner and Maverick Varner. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Field Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ray Frankhouser officiating. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Windy Hill Manor and Hospice for the great kindness Gary received while he was in their care.
