Obituary of Geraldine Elizabeth LaRue

Geraldine Elizabeth "Deanie" LaRue, 86, of Independence, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at her home. Geraldine was born in Preston County, on July 21, 1930, a daughter of the late Worley F. Miller, Sr. and Essie Pearl (Hartley) Miller. Geraldine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many grandchildren. She was a devoted member of the Glory Bound Apostolic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening and working in her flowers. Geraldine is survived by two sons, Larry and Richard Spiker both of Kingwood, four daughters; Linda Beeman of Kingwood (who was her caretaker for many years), Janie Thomas and husband Eugene of Reedsville, Joyce Sypolt of Independence, and Robin LaRue of Independence; three brothers and spouses, John Spiker and Edith of Tunnelton, Russell Miller and Patricia of Girard, and Worley Miller and Tammy of Kingwood; four sisters and spouses, Freda Santangelo and Joseph of Youngstown, OH, Sandy Fazenbaker and Gary of Morgantown, Connie DeWitt of Kingwood and Debbie Miller of Kingwood; a sister in law and dear friend, Kathy Miller; 12 grandchildren, Eugene Thomas, Jr., Tracy Thomas, Amy LaRue, Robbie LaRue, Melissa Zweyer, Elizabeth Drain, Terry Cole, Melissa Wiley, Timothy Sypolt, Danny Sisler, Julie Longwell, and Michael Sisler; several great grandchildren, including; Ryan, Trevor, Jordan, Cody, Destiny, Alisha, Patience, William, Stacy, Robert, Braden, Alex and a dear friend, Karen Sapp, who helped with her care. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee LaRue, whom she married May 21, 1953 and who passed away November 12, 2003; step mother, Violet Miller; two brothers, Junior Allen Miller and Delmas Miller; five sisters, Floss Simms, Maxine Carr, Ruby Mason, Bonnie Kohn, and Pauline Sue Miller. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Field Funeral Home with Pastor Norma Stimmell and Rev. Sonny McNear officiating. Interment will follow in the Gladesville Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to WV Caring for the excellent care Geraldine received.
