Quincy A. Wyatt, Jr., of Tunnelton, WV, passed away on February 24, 2026, at Kingwood HealthCare Center, with family at his side.
He was born on November 7, 1936, to Quincy and Margaret Wyatt, in Jerryville, West Virginia.
Following high school graduation from Webster Springs High School in 1956, Quincy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Geiger in North Carolina as a radio operator. On December 19, 1956, Quincy married his love, June Myers Wyatt. Together, they had five children, Victor, Ronald, Christopher, Rachel, and John Wyatt.
After separation from the Marine Corps, Quincy moved to Webster Springs, WV, and worked as a mechanic at the Plymouth Garage in Cherry Falls, WV. While living there, he was a member of the Webster Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Then, Quincy moved his family to Elyria, OH, working in Elyria Plastics Plant, then United Parcel Service. In 1967, he again moved his family to take care of his elderly parents, relocating to Philippi, WV. Quincy found work as a coal miner with Badger Coal Company, a subsidiary of Pittston Coal. After helping seal Badger Mines in the mid-1980s, he found work as an Electrician for Armstrong Electric Contractors in Lynchburg, Virginia, then moved back to Philippi, going to work for Evergreen Mining in Cowen, WV, retiring in 2004.
Quincy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June; his son, Christopher; his sister, Nancy Schmidt and her husband, Carl Schmidt. Surviving are his sons, Victor Wyatt of Kingwood, WV, Ronald and wife, Sandy of Morgantown, WV, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Wyatt of Morgantown, WV, daughter, Rachel McCarty and husband, Alan, of Madison Heights, VA and youngest son, John A. Wyatt and wife, Ashley of Tunnelton, WV. Quincy is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, WV on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 10am until 2pm time of service, the funeral hours, with Nick Bolyard officiating the service. Military rites will be accorded by the Preston County Honor Guard and the Earl Anderson Marine Corps League Detachment 342.
