Carlos Hipilito Lopez Obituary

Carlos Hipilito Lopez, 24, of Masontown, WV, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV, with family by his side.

He was born on January 31, 2002, in Morgantown, WV, a son of Pedro Lopez and Carrie Jo (Lefevers) Lopez of Masontown, WV.

Carlos attended Preston High School, where he continued to share his joy and presence with those around him. He had a love for KFC, watching movies on VHS, participating in activities at Stepping Stones, and he was always easy to spot in his classic yellow PlayWorks shirt; a familiar and comforting sight to so many. PlayWorks was more than a place for Carlos; it was his community, and he was fiercely loved there in return.

He was a bright light in the lives of all who knew him; Carlos brought joy, laughter, and warmth wherever he went. He was known for his happy spirit, his strong will, and the unmistakable way he made people feel welcome; always greeting those he loved with a big smile.

Throughout his life, Carlos showed remarkable strength and resilience. He was surrounded by deep love and unwavering devotion from his family. The bonds he shared were profound, especially with his brother Pedro, who described simply and beautifully: "He was my brother and best friend."

In addition to his loving parents, Carlos is survived by a brother, Pedro Lopez; step-grandmother, Sherrie Lefevers; aunts and uncles, Cathy Stimmell and husband, Dennis Sr., and Timothy Lefevers and wife, Cindy; a host of cousins, other family members, and friends who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Nicholas "Nicky" Lopez; maternal grandparents, Thomas Lefevers, Jr. and Patricia "Patty" Lefevers; paternal grandparents, Hipilito and Monica Lopez, and uncle, Thomas Lefevers III.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, WV, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 11:00 am until the 1:00 pm time of service with Pastor Jon Henry officiating. After the service, family will be received for a sharing of memories until they are "ready to go home" as Carlos would always say. To honor the families wishes, after services are completed, the Field Funeral Home will provide professional and compassionate cremation services.

Carlos' joy, strength, and love will continue to live on through the hearts of all who knew him. His presence changed lives and his memory will forever be treasured.
