Nelson Eddy Corbin Obituary

Nelson Eddy Corbin, 83, of Kingwood, WV, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 29, 2026, at home with family by his side.

Nelson was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, Army Veteran, musician and great friend to so many. Born in Aliquippa, PA he was the youngest of 7 children. He resided in Kingwood for the majority of his life. He attended school in Preston County, graduating from Kingwood High School in 1960 and entered the United States Army deploying to Germany as an Army RA Armor with the HQ Co 4th Bn 73 Armor Division upon graduation. He attained the rank of E5 before being transferred to the USAR in 1963 and returning to Preston County. Nelson was a skilled equipment operator and possessed a strong work ethic and drive. One day during work, a stop for lunch and a banana shake changed his life forever! He was smitten and fell in love with a young girl he met at the Dairy Queen that day and the rest was history so to speak! After a short courtship, they were married on September 26, 1966, and started their family having 2 beautiful children whom he loved and adored immensely. Nelson and Sharon had just celebrated 59 years in 2025!

Nelson was a tireless provider who worked a multitude of jobs and had business ventures prior to settling in on his own passion in the building construction trade in 1975 when Corbin Lumber and Construction was started. Over the next 50 years Nelson put Family, Friends and Community first in everything he did. A simple cup of coffee with the "Coffee Crew" in the morning either at Hardees or McDonalds may have just looked like a bunch of Old guys drinking coffee, but in fact it was a lifeline for these early riser guys who were creatures of habit. Lifelong bonds were forged and ideas about business ventures were discussed in detail along with stories and memories of past adventures. His dedication and support helped build the community around him with his involvement in the local, county and state ventures that dot the landscape around Preston County and beyond. Many homes were built and businesses were opened with numerous lives touched by his generosity, even when funds were low and payments were slow. He was always there to help and lend a hand to all that needed it or couldn't afford it at the time. Still evident by his numerous rentals which provide a safe and affordable home for many people. He was a dedicated youth basketball coach and constant supporter of area youth teams through his businesses. His love for music drove his desire to start a band. Playing guitar and the ability to self-teach himself by ear to play additional instruments led to his popularity as an artist in the local area for many years but was mostly enjoyed by all of his family as he daily played and sang to them growing up.

What made Nelson more remarkable was his patience and Love for his family. No matter what he was doing or where he was going, he always had time to give some love or listen to his kids, grandkids and great grandkids! His patience and peaceful loving spirit with the kids was one of his greatest attributes. Until the end, he never gave up on relationships and trying to keep the connection alive with everyone he loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of his Family and Friends who have had the pleasure of knowing him. He was loved so very much and will be missed more than words can say!

In addition to his beloved wife, Sharon Kay (Wiley) Corbin of Kingwood, he is survived by his children, Eric Corbin, Vicki Adams and husband, Jack and his bonus daughter Stacey Washington; six grandchildren, Elizabeth and husband, Andrew, Jonathan and companion, Alex, Isabella, Caroline, Jacob and companion, Makayla,  and Joshua; six great grandchildren, Garrett, Sienna, Brielle, Liam, Aaliyah and Isla and one sister, Sandy (Corbin) Thorn.

In addition to his parents, Charles Wilson Corbin and Flossie (Britton) Corbin, he is preceded in death by five siblings, Deloris, Maxine, Mary, Charles “Bud” and Paul and one granddaughter, Kylan.

Nelson's wish was to be cremated, and he will be returned home to his Family again soon. Field Funeral Home in Masontown will provide professional and compassionate cremation services.
