Dakota Lee Sines Obituary
Dakota Lee Sines, 31, of Arthurdale, passed away suddenly in a tragic accident on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
He was born in Kingwood, West Virginia, on January 24, 1994, a son of David E. Sines and Shawn R. (Fazenbaker) Sines.
He was a 2013 graduate of Preston High School. Dakota was a devoted father, a caring son, and the most supportive big brother. He enjoyed spending his spare time with his children, Rhett and Clare, as well as hunting, fishing, wrestling, coaching, farming, raising animals, and spending time with friends. His love for raising animals led him to the Preston County Livestock Association, where he was inspired to show animals at the Preston County Buckwheat Festival. He also enjoyed trips to the beach and family vacations with his children and siblings, Cameron and Courtney Sines.
Dakota was employed as a coal miner at Leer South, now operated by Core Mines, where he made countless friends. He had an incredible personality that naturally drew people to him.
Dakota's love and passion for wrestling ignited a flame that burned brightly in his son Lane's life, and now his children, Rhett and Clare, are proudly following in their daddy's footsteps.
Dakota is survived by his son, Rhett Tucker Sines, and his daughter, Clare Elizabeth Sines, and their mother, Tavien Hovatter of Reedsville; his parents, David and Shawn Sines; his brother, Cameron Sines of Arthurdale; his sister, Courtney Sines of Morgantown; his grandmother, Etta Mae Sines of Terra Alta; aunts Christina Jackson of Kingwood, Melissa Sines of Terra Alta, LaRae and Steven Biggins of Arthurdale, and Heather and Chris Sphar; cousins, Matthew and Brandon Biggins, Chris Sphar Jr., Michael Sphar, and Sarah (Sphar) Phillips; and his many lifelong friends.
Dakota was preceded in death by his son, Lane Easton Sines; his grandparents, Clyde and Josephine Fazenbaker; and his great-grandparents, Arnold and Wilberta Varner.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, WV on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 11 am until the 3 pm time of service with Rev. Dr. David Spence officiating. Entombment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Kingwood.

John 14:1-3
"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort where with we ourselves are comforted of God."
Psalms 34:18
"The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and safety such as be of a contrite spirit."
