Marilyn Jean Nuce McClure, 83, of Masontown, passed away on September 3, 2025, at home surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Masontown, WV on November 25, 1941, the daughter of the late Howard W. and Pauline Lucille Metheny Nuce.
Jean was a very kind and generous person and was always looking for ways to help others. She was a 1959 graduate of Masontown High School and attended the Masontown Methodist Church. She owned and operated McClure Trucking and McClure's Exxon along with her husband for many years. Throughout her life she also worked at the Medical Center on the Mileground, Albright National Bank (which became Wesbanco), and later retired from AES Credit Union. She loved spending time with her family and cherished her role as grandmother. She enjoyed beach vacations, cookouts at home and Broadford Park Lake and visits to her daughter's ice cream shop. Jean had an artistic side to her. She loved crocheting, decorating cakes and ceramics and also spent countless hours mowing and working in her garden.
Jean is survived by two daughters and a son, Lydotta McClure Taylor and husband Larry of Morgantown, Don McClure Jr. of Masontown, and Alisa McClure Arnett of Rivesville; two grandchildren that she adored, Kayla Marie Taylor Benson and husband Chad of Sarasota, FL and Cameron Dale Taylor and companion Cassie Stauffer of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; one sister, Shirley Field and husband Joseph of Masontown; many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly and a brother-in-law, Richard McClure of Morgantown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 55 years, Donald McClure Sr.; brother, David Nuce and his wife Alice; daughter-in-law, Diane McClure; two sons-in-law, Dave Blaney and Roger Arnett; mother and father-in-law, C.W. Luther and Alta McClure and a sister-in-law, Pat McClure.
Family and friends will be received at Field Funeral Home Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 11 am until the 1 pm service time with Pastor Marshall Woods officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Masontown. Marilyn was a 41-year member of the Rowlesburg Chapter 127 and previously Kingwood Chapter 62 Order of the Eastern Star. The custom of an Eastern Star Service will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
