Gailord Elmer Taylor, 87, of Masontown, WV, passed away Friday, June 6, 2025, at home.

He was born on December 20, 1937, in Masontown, WV, a son to the late Parley L. Taylor and Dorothy (Gamble) Taylor.

Elmer was Protestant by faith and attended the Masontown Church of the Nazarene. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. After leaving the military, Elmer worked at Quality Glass in Morgantown, retired from Youngstown Sheet and Tube after 31 years, and was employed part-time for Andrew Morris Enterprise. He was a member of the Flint Glass Union and for 31 years a member of the United Steel Workers of America Local 1418. Elmer was President of the Valley District Hunting Club for more than 20 years.

Elmer is survived by his best friend, companion and caregiver Delores "Dee" Radabaugh; his loving children, Cheryl (James) Dear and Gerald "Jerry" (Kelli) Taylor; six grandchildren, Christopher Braithwaite, Zachary Braithwaite, Jacob (Sarah) Braithwaite, Eric (Tiffany) Castle, Cortni (Colleen) Taylor and Cody Taylor; grandson by choice, Caleb Radabaugh and wife Olivia; three great-grandchildren, Eleanor Braithwaite, Ethan Castle and Delaney Castle; great grandchild by choice, Sadie Jane Radabaugh and sister, Alberta McIe.

In addition to his parents, Elmer is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Hilda M. (Cale) Chaplow; sisters, Eldora Taylor and Alvada Taylor; brothers, Duane "Bob" Taylor and Llewellyn "Lee" Taylor.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, WV, on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 12:00 pm until the 1:00 pm time of service with Rev. Tim Heaney officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Preston County Honor Guard and the WVANG Honor Guard. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
