Obituary of Nancy Carole Mitchell

Nancy Carole Mitchell, 81, of Stonewood, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Clarksburg Healthcare Center with her family by her side.

 

She was born on March 28, 1944, in Stonewood, WV, a daughter of the late Clarence "Cotton" and Willa Bessie (Bond) Westfall.

 

Nancy was a 1962 graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School. She worked for many years in the snack bar at Compton Lanes. She loved camping at the Kountry Campground in Racine, OH with her husband Bob and grandson Robbie. They loved riding around in their custom golf cart visiting all their friends. She was a lifetime resident of Stonewood and was very proud of their home and yard. She loved to put out a garden and praised her dad "Cotton" for everything she knew.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Field and Jerry of Masontown, WV and Erin Dye and Richie of Mt. Lookout, WV; five grandchildren, Robbie Mitchell, Ceara Peddicord and Tyler, Austin Dye and Katie, Cheyenne Parker and Jacob and Joshua Field and Ashley; four great grandchildren; Ellie, Mitchell and Maverick Dye and Olivia Parker; a sister, Barbara Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Hall and Ron and Patricia Marsh and Rick all of Clarksburg; many nieces and nephews; special cousin, Danny Westfall and Teresa of Stonewood.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bob" Mitchell in 2022; a daughter, Shawna Mitchell in 2020; two brothers, Robert High and Edward "Bud" High; two sisters, Martha Offutt and Donna Benton; father and mother-in-law, Howard J. and Esther Mitchell and a sister-in-law, Denise Mitchell.

 

To honor her wishes, no public services will be held. The Field Funeral Home in Masontown, WV, will provide compassionate and professional cremation services.

 

Family would like to extend a special thank you for the excellent care she received to the staff of Clarksburg Healthcare Center and Amedisys Hospice.
