Paula McGinnis

Obituary of Paula Gayle McGinnis

Paula Gayle McGinnis was born in a country farmhouse in Kanetown, on August 31, 1941.

She passed away on April 12, 2025, in her grandson and family's home surrounded by family. She was 83 years old.

Paula graduated from Tunnelton High School in 1959 and married Ronnie McGinnis the same year. They had one daughter, Pamela Jo (McGinnis) Mersing and one son, Ronald Eugene McGinnis, Jr.

Paula was co-owner of Tri-M in Kingwood and Tri-M II in Tunnelton, along with her husband and son. She held an office in the Tunnelton Alumni Association for many years. Paula was a hard worker and held many positions before and after becoming owner of the Tri-Ms – an office manager for Dr. Wendell Perrill, and a file clerk for The Casteel Law Firm, to name a few.

Paula was always protective of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was good to her parents and adored by her siblings. Paula was an amazing people person and was always just a phone call away. She was always ready to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed life and had many good friends to share it with.

She enjoyed going to church on Sunday and attending the prayer meetings on Wednesday night. She will be missed by many. We all love you, Paula, until we meet again!

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela J. Mersing of Morgantown; her son, Gene McGinnis and Angie of Kingwood; her grandson, Brooks Mersing and Joanna of Morgantown; her granddaughter, Karli and Lucas Jennings of Thornton; her grandson, Tyler and Taylor Bowmar of Morgantown; her siblings, Shirley Z. Gainer of Kingwood, Charles and Karen Zinn of Tunnelton, Elizabeth and John Poland of Tunnelton, Janis and Larry Bolyard of Kingwood; her sisters-in-law, Diane Zinn of Tunnelton and Greta McGinnis of Kingwood; her great grandchildren, Conor and Callie Mersing of Morgantown; and Greyson Bowmar of Morgantown and a multitude of nieces, nephews and special friends. She loved them all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donnas and Hilda Zinn; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jess and Elma McGinnis; her husband, Ronald Eugene McGinnis; her sisters, Donna Jean Zinn and Eleanor Readd Hawkins; her brother, Randal Zinn and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Thank you to Home Health and Hospice for their expert care and professional kindness. Thank you to Dr. Yednock for all your good care and kindness to Paula over the years. A visit to you was like a dose of medicine for her. It meant so much.

A special shout-out to Brooks and Joanna! To just say thanks is simply not enough. Your terrific care of Paula and your gracious hospitality in opening your home to family and friends to be with her, no questions asked, was simply heartwarming. May God bless you two and your two precious children.
